One of our favorite things at Climb Morocco is seeing new clients get excited about trying new things they have never done before on the side of a mountain! On one beautiful and sunny Friday morning a couple of weeks ago, Stephen, an eager and thrilled client from America, did just that as he readied himself for his first big rappel (abseil). Stephen reminded us how much fun the first few steps to the edge of the cliff are. He reminded us how your adrenaline kicks in as you force your brain to convince your body to lean back over the edge, trusting the rope and (your trusty Climb Morocco guide!). Heart pounding, lump in your throat, palms sweating, big smile! And to be doing this in Morocco of all places!
Stephen, contemplating his options.
After convincing Stephen that his first rappel was, in fact, a great idea, he took the committing first step over the edge and started making his way down from the ledge that safely held him 120 feet above the ground. He worked his way down cautiously at first, but once he became more and more comfortable with the new technique he had just learned, a new and genuine smile and confidence appeared and he even started leaping, nay, flying down the rock! Serious Fun!
Headed down, and happy.
Jeremy and I were certainly proud of Stephen from way up on the ledge and were grateful to share in Stephen’s excitement and accomplishment! Great job Stephen! You are a natural. His new friends waiting for him at the bottom were also impressed!
"Way to go, Stephen!"
Of course, as soon as Stephen reached the bottom, he made another calculated and exhilarating decision…also a first! Time to climb back up, and that is just what he did! Another memorable day, climbing and rappelling in Zuhelika, Morocco.
