Expedition Impossible Morocco

Expedition Impossible Morocco Climbing

Expedition Impossible Morocco was a reality adventure television show that premiered in the summer of 2011 in the U.S. and Canada on ABC. It consisted of nine episodes featuring teams competing against each other to be the first to accomplish challenges in many different areas of the country with teams being eliminated along the way. No matter what you think of the show and the competition itself, it show-cased and revealed many of the beautiful, rugged and wild areas that Morocco has to offer and the many adventures that can be had in them. Although Morocco has been a vacation and travel destination for large parts of Europe for quite sometime, until somewhat recently there hasn’t been as much awareness about Morocco in North America. This was a great opportunity to reveal some of the beautiful landscapes and people of Morocco to those that watched the show and open up Morocco as an option for many North Americans as an exotic adventure destination.

Much of the show was filmed in various locations in the High Atlas mountains including a section where teams rappelled down a wall in the Todra Gorge. Although the teams didn’t actually do any rock climbing, there are some great shots and views of some of the huge limestone walls in the Todra as well as the surrounding villages and Palmeries. At about minute 11 of the excerpt from epidsode 1 below, you can see the teams rappelling in the Todra Gorge.  If you are in the U.S., you can also also watch all the episodes of the show on Hulu here.

Hopefully Expedition Impossible Morocco will have served to help continue to put Morocco on the map for many people as one of the world’s great and exotic adventure and climbing destinations. Here’s a thought; maybe you enjoyed seeing Morocco from the comfort of your home on your TV, why don’t you consider coming to Morocco and letting Climb Morocco take you on a climbing trip of your own in one of these beautiful places that the country has to offer.
